11th August 2007, Aldridge fayre

This will be the 13th annual Fayre organised by the Aldridge & District Lions Club. Lions Chairman, Harry Fry said, The Fayre is our major event of the year and helps swell our funds for the ongoing charity work of the Lions organisation. In addition to the fund raising it is also a great day out for the people of Aldridge and the surrounding areas.

This year again sees a packed programme of events throughout the day with music demonstrations from the 31st S.C. Scout band and the New Washboard Syncopators Jazz band, Walsall Junior Coronets and the Arabesque Dance troupe. There will be line dancing with the JP Line Dance team and also Tai Chi demonstrations with audience participation.

In addition to the arena events there will be a large number of side shows, refreshments and a fun fair. There will be a grand car boot sale also being held throughout the day to add just that bit extra for the people who visit.

Show organiser, John Butler, said We are looking forward to another good Fayre again this year and the support we have received from the people taking part has been great. It is unfortunate that as the Fayre takes place on the open ground of Anchor Meadow, we are unable to charge admission fees. Most of the money spent on the day goes to the individual charity groups who attend and this is really good but it does mean that the Lions Club has difficulty in raising major amounts of money for its own funds. We rely very much for our income on the trade stalls who attend and from donations from sponsors in order to cover the costs of the Fayre. Unfortunately our two major sponsors have had to drop out this year and we are still seeking additional sponsors who would be willing to become involved wit this major community event.

For further details of Aldridge Fayre, offers of sponsorship or if you want to have a trade stall at the event please contact John Butler on 0121 353 6400. To book a car boot space call Keith Price on 01922 457945
