Aldridge businesses are being invited to take part in a special fundraising project, inspired by 9 year old Ben Sambrook from Aldridge, who was treated for a Brain Tumour. Ben Sambrook Viva Las Vegas Event

Aldridge was twinned with Montelimar, Drome in France 44 years ago in May 1964
Aldridge international Association was created to foster links with Montelimar and the appointed secretary was Mr S Allen of Cotswold Close in Aldridge. Montelimar is a beautiful town well known for producing nougat made from local honey and almonds. I would be very interested to hear any details and thoughts about the twinning of Aldridge with Montelimar, and i shall be researching this with a view to rebuilding links with Montelimar in the spirit of Town Twinning. Sunday Walsall Group of Advanced Motorists.
The Walsall Group has been established in Walsall for many years and has enabled hundreds of motorists, of all ages, to improve their driving skills and pass their I.A.M. Advanced Driving Test. Our friendly group, which is manned by fully qualified volunteers, meets at Aldridge Community Centre on the first Sunday of every month at 9.30 a.m. If you would like to enjoy driving more, make yourself a safer driver, drive more economically and have the opportunity of discounted motor insurance, discounted AA and RAC membership and lots more, then come and meet us. Our next Institute of Advanced Motorists course starts on March 2nd, please ring us for full details of how to join.

Tynings Lane, Aldridge, WS9 0AS. Every Monday evening during school term time only. The classes are for children of Reception age upwards and last an hour proving fun in an informal setting and they are introducing children to a selection of Musical tastes and dances. Emma who runs the dance classes, teaches at the local school and has her own dance academy and she has had lots of experience with children with special needs having done work for MENCAP. Sunday 8th June 2008 Aldridge Running Club will once again be holding their annual road race. The Race commences at 10.30am and finishes at approximately 11.45am.
The route will be starting in Portland Road at 10.30 am, turning left into Walsall Road and proceeding up to the White House Pub, left into Bosty Lane and straight along to Barr Common Road, left turn into Erdington Road, continuing up the hill and left into Portland Road, turning right across the Green to turn right into Little Aston Road. The runners will proceed down Little Aston Road, taking a left turn into Gould Firm Lane, turning left into Hobs Hole Lane proceeding to the very top of Hobs Hole Lane turning left into Walsall Wood Road, then turning into Noddy Park Road, finishing in the grounds of the Cricket Hockey Club.

We hope to cause the minimum of disruption and delay on the day, and we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience the race may cause you. We would like to thank you for your support and understanding in the past. Whilst the route may not directly take in your particular road please be aware that it could pass over one or more of the exit routes from your road.

We would appreciate any support that you can give the runners on the day, maybe you could give them a cheer as they go by.

As race day, June 8th 2008 draws closer' Blind Dave and Mac have already confirmed their attendance to start and then run the 10k event.

Prior to the event, Blind Dave and Mac will be meeting runners from Leighswood School, including 10 year old Kyle Beach. Kyle is hemiplegic and partially sighted but takes part in all activities and asks for no special treatment. He has been inspired by the fantastic achievements of Blind Dave and is looking forward to meeting his hero.

Leighswood staff and children are running the Aldridge race to raise money for New Cross Hospital which has been nominated by Kyle for the support they have given him.

Kyle has been described by Leighswood School as having the 'x' factor and won the life long learning award last year for his efforts. They wish Kyle every happiness in his new school, Jane Lane.

8th June 2008 Aldridge road race
Karen Waple is the Race Director for the Aldridge 10k Road Race which attracts many runners from the local community and has become a well established race on the Midlands calendar. On completion of the race, all runners will be presented with a memento of the race. We estimate a field of around 500 in 2008 with all profit going to support local charities further information by email or telephone as shown below.

This year, following the success last year, we have a new field layout with an even longer flight line so we hope it will be fuller than ever. So if you???re a power R/C flyer with BMFA or LMA insurance and an A cert or better please join us, if you're a spectator bring yourself and the family along for the day or the weekend and enjoy the diversity, variety, and power of R/C Flight. Campers are welcome, we ask for a donation and we request you please book ahead of time to guarantee a space. All traders are welcome, again we request that you let us know you are coming. All flyers visitors and families are welcome and admission to the field is free. There will be a BBQ and entertainment on Friday/Saturday night for our pilots, campers, volunteers and guests.
