Week Commencing Saturday 1st November 2008

Saturday 1st November and Sunday 2nd, Aldridge Continental Market.

Aldridge town centre be awash with colour as dozens of market stalls will convene at Aldridge Shopping Centre from Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November selling a variety of food and drink. The market will be open between 9am – 5.30pm on Saturday and 9am until 4pm on Sunday.

Mouthwatering continental produce from France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Holland and Poland will be on display and available to purchase at the market, including Swiss and French cheeses, patisseries and croissants, fresh bread, Corsica saucissons, Muscadet wines, Swedish cider and much more!

Sweet-toothed visitors will be well catered for, with hand made chocolates, Brittany biscuits and fresh crepes on offer.

But it’s not just about the food! Visitors to the market can expect a real buzz around the town with traders wearing their traditional costumes and stalls supremely decorated to match the vibrant colours of their produce.

And with Christmas looming on the horizon, there will be a wide variety of unique gifts on offer for the whole family.

Organised by Walsall Council in conjunction with the Aldridge Village Business Partnership and supported by London & Cambridge Properties, this event will be one of the highlights this autumn.

With lively stalls and plenty of fun, it’s an opportunity that’s not to be missed!

We will be promoting council vacancies and currently we have Homeserve and Midcounties Coop attending from the private sector to promote their job vacancies. Drop in during the day for:

Friday 14th November, Aldridge Lions Club will be holding an open “drinks & nibbles” evening in Stonnall where people can come along, relax over a drink and talk to the members about the work of the Lions. Club President, Clyde Redfern, said, “Being a part of the largest worldwide charity organisation, we are very keen to see the work of the Lions in Aldridge and District continue and increase. Over the years we have raised much funding to support needed requirements in the local area as well as supporting programmes both nationally and internationally. We have a very keen group of people but we do need more support to maintain and improve the work we do. When we are able to support some of the needs of people, particularly those within our local area, it does give some degree of satisfaction but the great thing is that we have a lot of fun whilst we do so.”
