6th March Have your say on Aldridge open green spaces and parks
Aldridge Residents are being asked to make their mark in Aldridge area by taking part in a consultation event aimed at improving an important open space in the village. Walsall Council is working in partnership with Aldridge Rotary Club on ideas for The Croft which is near to the village centre. The Croft is greatly valued by the Aldridge community and ideas so far include further landscaping of the site, adding picnic benches, pathways, benches and litter bins and creating a heritage trail that will link The Croft to the village and its shops. A public consultation day is being held at Aldridge Shopping Centre off Anchor Road, on Saturday 6 March between 11am and 3pm for people to see these proposals and add their input. Councillor Adrian Andrew, Walsall Council deputy leader and Cabinet member for regeneration, said: "We want to continue to work together to improve The Croft and ensure that it continues to be an important village asset. "The consultation day will give residents the opportunity to look at the ideas suggested so far and talk to a member of the project team to make sure their views are taken into account. "We want to hear from people to make progress on this project in an important district centre. This is another example of how this council is working in all our district centres." Brian Wheat, Aldridge Rotary Club president, said: We are pleased to be involved in this initiative with Walsall Council and the Aldridge Village Business Partnership which aims to improve public access to The Croft and help it to become a focal point, adding to the family and heritage features that the community currently enjoys. Workshops will also be held with local schools and youth clubs over the next few weeks to gain wider community input. Anyone who would like more information on the scheme can contact Cherry Shine, Walsall Council principal regeneration officer, on 01922 652537.
