Walsall Families Information Service (FIS) is a FREE, impartial service that gives advice and up-to-date information on a variety of things that affect families in Walsall. We aim to help mums, dads and carers by giving them the right information and advice that will empower them to make the right decisions for their families. We also offer help and advice to professionals who are working with families across the borough.

Woodlands camp Aldridge

The Birmingham Boys’ and Girls’ Union is a registered charity, providing outdoor activities at Woodlands Camp in Aldridge for children of all ages and social backgrounds regardless of wealth or physical ability “to help and educate young people in the area to develop their physical and mental capacities”.
Woodlands Camp is a residential outdoor activity centre with archery, canoeing, climbing. abseiling, assault course, night trails, orienteering, team building, high ropes course and more, enjoyed by 14,000 visitors each year. Priority is given to disadvantaged and/or disabled groups who use our facilities on a regular basis. These include Birmingham Institute for the Deaf, Visiting Teacher Services for both the hearing and visually impaired from Birmingham and Walsall areas and special schools from Birmingham, Walsall, Sandwell, Tamworth and Wolverhampton. We support schools from inner city areas with high numbers of disadvantaged children, by keeping costs within the reach of most groups with further discretion to award free places or lower prices where needed most. All Woodlands Camp staff have been trained to meet the needs of disabled youngsters and we have special equipment so that even severely disabled youngsters can take part in, and enjoy, outdoor activities.
